Giving Back: Yule Jam
Now in it’s third year, the annual Yule Jam at Music Farm is quickly becoming a favorite holiday tradition in Columbia each December.
All born and raised right here in Columbia, friends Gabe Coggiola, Jason Morris, and Laine Ligon dreamed up the idea for Yule Jam back in 2015. They wanted to host an annual event each holiday season that would not only feature live music, but one that would benefit a good cause in the community.
They partner with up-and-coming local bands (this year, it’s LUTHI and Los Colognes) and with Music Farm Columbia to put together an evening of live music that raises money through ticket sales and a silent auction for Families Helping Families.
“We’ve raised money through our generous donations from local sponsors, and with the help of Trae Judy at Music Farm,” Gabe said. “All of the money that we have raised through this event has gone straight to Families Helping Families.”
Families Helping Families, an initiative of Palmetto Project, provides gifts, clothing, food, and other essentials to Midlands families in need, ensuring that all of our neighbors in our community can share in the joy of the Christmas season.
