Your Local Guide To New Year’s Eve

We are excited 4 days away from ringing in 2019 at the Famously Hot New Year! We have compiled a list of places to find the perfect look, where to dine, what to drink and where to stay.

    What To Wear

The last outfit of 2018! Let’s make it a good one!

    For The Ladies:

This is your night to shine with sequins, glitter, and a glass of bubbly. Have fun with your look and make sure you layer to prepare for any weather situation. Here’s where we found some of our NYE favorites.

Copper Penny: looking for sequins? Look no further! Copper Penny has an assortment of glittery tops that pair perfectly with their faux leather Spanx leggings.

Monkees: the challenge every girl faces-where to put her phone, money, and lipstick. The GiGi New York clutch is the perfect size and transitional for a variety of looks.

Pink Sorbet: cocktails dresses makes every girl feel extra special. Lilly Pulitzer’s gold trim, silver details, and bold colors will make sure the fireworks aren’t the only thing that stand out.

Scout & Molly’s: keep cozy outside with Linda Richards Pom Pom hats- they absolutely feel like a cloud.

Wildflower: a jacket doesn’t have to ruin your outfit. And in this case, we think it will only welcome more compliments. We fell in love with Wildflower’s warm and fierce leopard jacket.

Just the Thing: hoops are IN this season and Just the Thing has the selection for you. We recommend trying the Sheila Fajl hoops- extremely light weight and nickel free- we’ve had our pair for years!

Pout: a pop of lip color is what every gal need for her midnight kiss. The ladies at Pout are excited to find the right color for you and your 12 o’clock smooch.

    For The Men:

The only one dropping the ball on New Year’s Eve should Bill de Blasio. Make sure you’re NYE ready with the help of these local retailers.

Brittons: bow ties, socks, belts, oh my. Add some jazz to you outfit with a few accessories.

Granger Owings: don’t be the tough guy- wear the jacket. We encourage you to make the investment in a waxed Barbour jacket (it’s waterproof).

BP Skinner: put your best foot forward with a pair of new shoes. We are big time swooning over BP Skinner’s suede crocodile shoes for $595.

Circa Barbershop: relax before your late night out with a fresh haircut and shave. Products used in the shop are made in America.

    Where To Sip

If you’ve never partaken in the act of a dressing drink (indulging in a cocktail while you dress), there is no better time to start than NYE. Of course, your drink must be champagne based! We popped by Bottles to learn about what we should be serving ourselves and guests.

    Budget friendly: Francois Montand Brut$12.99

    Mid-tier: Aubry Brut, $35.99

    High-end: Veuve Clicuot, $47.97

Feeing extra ambitious? Give these champagne jello squares a shot!

    Where To Dine:

Let’s honor and say goodbye to 2018 with some decency, or as we like to call it spoiling ourselves with an amazing meal. Plus, it’s quite important to have a hearty dinner before the festivities begin!

Cantina 76 on Main: this NYE package includes a taco & nacho bar, two complimentary cocktails, entertainment provided by DJ Dr. VAC, and availability to come and go as guests please from Famously Hot New Year. Tickets are $55

Bourbon: steps away from the Famously Hot main stage these tickets include craft cocktails, beer, wine and bubbly, as well as passed appetizers. Guests have the option to come and go from Bourbon with their ticket. Tickets are $150

Alodia’s Cucina Italiana: cheese, pasta, bread. Three words to win us over. Alodia’s creates authentic Italian dishes for their guests to delight in. Il mio amore.

Kaminsky’s Dessert Cafe: we’ll just leave this here- Salted Caramel Martini, Van Gough caramel vodka, RumChata, house made caramel sauce, cream.

    Where To Stay

Welcome 2019! The dancing and toasting have commenced and it’s time to say goodnight. If you’re vising for the celebrations or enjoying a treat yourself night, we recommend these convenient hotels.

Hotel Trundle: this boutique hotel welcomes guests as they check-in with a complimentary local beer! Perks include: walking distance from Famously Hot New Year, proximity to Main Street, tin ceilings and exposed brick, a light local breakfast.

Aloft Columbia Downtown: a great choice if you are booking with a large group of friends. Perks include: pet friendly accommodations, proximity to the Vista, and fluffy pillows.

    Good Fortune

Let’s start 2019 off on the right side of the bed with a traditional meal of good fortune. Can’t cook like your Momma? These local southern favorites will fill you up!

Yesterdays: since 1976, the Yesterday’s family has been serving southern specialties. New Year’s Day picks include hoppin john and black-eyed peas.

Little Pigs Barbeque: fill your plate sky high with luck at the Little Pig’s buffet. Banana pudding may not be on the traditional good luck food list, but it won’t stop us from piling it on our tray.

Lizard’s Thicket: with fifteen locations in the Columbia area, you’re never too far from some collards and ham.

Liberty Tap Room: ring in the New Year at Liberty’s Gatsby Masquerade Ball on New Years Eve – masks and champagne toasts will be provided! there’s no need to dress up for Liberty’s New Year’s Day pajama brunch. Brunch buffet $15 adults, $7 kids, $15 mimosa pitchers. Call 803-461-4677 for reservations.

Rioz: celebrate the new year at Rioz, they are taking reservations now and will open at 4pm on New Years Eve.

Pearlz Oyster Bar: join Pearlz for a 3 course New Year’s Eve dinner and enjoy DJ Dupleax and a complimentary champagne toast at midnight.

We look forward to seeing you in 2019! Cheers to a fabulous new year.
