Social Mission: South Carolina Wildlife Federation

The South Carolina Wildlife Federation has always been at the forefront of wildlife conservation in the Palmetto State. As the oldest conservation organization in South Carolina, SCWF is dedicated to protecting our state’s rich flora and fauna through education, advocacy, and habitat conservation. As we celebrate the local heroes and organizations that make Columbia shine, there’s no better way to celebrate than to spotlight SCWF as this issue’s Social Mission.

Gifts that Make a Difference

For those looking to share their love of nature, SCWF offers a special variety of books, hats, and resource guides—perfect gifts for the budding conservationist. The newest book on their shelves helps teach kids their ABCs through a fun exploration of local plants and animals. In addition, their “Wild SC” book serves as a fantastic resource guide for birdwatchers, outdoor enthusiasts, and people new to the Palmetto State who want to learn more about our local animals and habitats.

You can even purchase one of their bird nesting boxes that serve as the ideal habitat for bluebirds and chickadees. For those who enjoy a warm cup of coffee while birdwatching, get your very own SCWF-branded mugs and coffee blend, which allow you to sip sustainably while supporting a great cause.

Join the Club

With your purchase from SCWF, all donations and monetary gifts go directly to habitat conservation and restoration. While SCWF is affiliated with the National Wildlife Federation, all donations go directly to SCWF and stay within our beloved state.

Every membership helps to support local biodiversity and maintain the natural beauty that defines South Carolina. As our state experiences rapid population growth, the need for dedicated conservation efforts becomes increasingly urgent.

“We feel an urgency to protect wildlife as our state is growing,” Sara Green, Executive Director of SCWF, says. “We need as many people as possible to work together to protect our wildlife in these times of growth and development.”

With the SCWF, there’s so many ways to spread joy, education, and advocacy for our South Carolina wildlife and their essential habitats.

Mark your calendars for Giving Tuesday on December 3rd! SCWF will host an open house at 1519 Richland Street from 4pm to 7pm. Attendees can enjoy festive food and drinks, browse their exclusive merchandise, and learn more about the organization’s initiatives.
